The two main components of Macedonian GREEN SCHOOLS are renovations and green clubs. The first step in the process was making the schools’ infrastructure more environmentally friendly through larger updates and improvements. Some of these included new doors and windows, installation of solar panels, and other larger projects.

These investments were made possible by USAID, local municipalities and communities and support from the school. The goal was not only to reduce environmental impact, but also to reduce school expenditures to allow for greater investment in education and to improve learning conditions.

Phase II of the project has been the foundation of Green Clubs for the sustainability of the schools’ efforts.
