Program Background
Green School Program is a USAID-sponsored partnership, started as a pilot in the 2008/2009 school year. It was implemented in 5 primary schools by the project partners, USAID Primary Education Project (run by AED) and USAID Plastic Recycling Project (run by MDC Ti.Net). The project officially commenced on September 15th, 2009 in Mirce Acev Primary School, in the municipality of Gjorce Petrov, Skopje. The program’s goals are supported by the Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, the Minister of Education and Science, and the local municipals of the schools. After the successful implementation of the pilot, the project was extended to 15 new schools throughout Macedonia in the school year 2009/2010.
